Four fields, one storage line, and nothing else at all

Part one: letters

One form exists on this site, on the contact page, and it carries four things: a name, an email address, the subject picked from the list, and the message.

Letters stay for twelve months after the reply, which is about as long as a conversation about a route stays live, and are then removed.

A visit by itself is not recorded anywhere. There is no account and no password. Payment details, postal addresses, locations, device fingerprints and advertising identifiers are all absent because no part of this site has any use for them.

Worth stating on a site with this address: nothing here ever asks for anything about an animal. No name, no breed, no age, no weight, no records, no documents. There is no field for it and there never will be.

Part two: the look up

That form was written for this site rather than pasted in. Typing into it sends nothing anywhere, because the list it suggests from travels inside the site itself.

Pressing the button sends a single string to the booking host on a subdomain of this site. That string is two place codes, the dates, one letter for the cabin and three digits for who is travelling, and it is legible in the address bar before you commit to anything.

• Nothing comes back to this journal from that. No searches, no passenger details, no bookings.
• Whatever the host does with that string is governed by the host's own policy, published on the host's own pages.
• A booking afterwards produces a report to us that a booking existed. It carries no name and no way to arrive at one.
• Skip the front page entirely and none of this happens. No other page on the site carries a line of the look up.

Part three: your browser

One line of storage, `tp_strip_26`, holding one short word, whose only job is to stop the notice card returning on the next page. Clear browser storage and it is gone.

No cookie is set by this site at all. There is no advertising here, no personalisation and no measurement, which is why the notice card offers a genuine choice and then behaves the same either way: there is nothing behind the switch.

Your rights

Copies, corrections and deletions are all available on request. Send one line to creek@travelpetadventures.com from whichever address wrote in the first place and that is the entire process.

An answer comes back within 30 days, and in practice within a few, because there is very little to look through. Nothing is charged and no form stands in the way.

Legal basis, for readers who need it named

A publication that answers its post has a legitimate interest in the post, which covers both reading it and keeping it long enough to be useful. No marketing use is made of any of it. This journal runs no list, sends no bulletin, and has no intention of starting either.

Children

Walkable ground has never been a childhood interest. No part of this site is directed at children and nothing is knowingly gathered about anybody under sixteen.

Security, stated plainly

Pages arrive over HTTPS. A letter is encrypted in transit and arrives in a mailbox that only this desk unlocks.

No mailbox anywhere deserves the word secure without qualification. The honest reassurance is that the valuable things simply are not stored: this journal holds no password, no card detail and no identity document belonging to anybody.

Changes

Should this policy change, the date at its head changes with it and a sentence appears here describing what moved, so a returning reader is not left comparing from memory. Nothing has moved yet. This is version one.
